THE FINISH LINE

THE FINISH LINE

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

With your generous support we did it!! The idea of The Jacquelyn Project started with preparing to qualify for the Boston Marathon last year and recently ‘concluded’ with my son and I together crossing the finish line on Boylston St. to honor Jacquelyn … and Lynda Solien-Wolfe, my partner on this passion project from day one (who passed away just two days before the marathon). It was quite the emotional day! Thank you, thank you for your generous support! You are the best!!

We are currently organizing the rewards for our generous contributors and plan to begin shipping these as soon as the illustrated book (Marathon Marshall and the Dream Team Ducks Go to Boston) is finalized. Felicia is working hard to polish this for us.

Here is a link to the most recent MASSAGE Magazine column outlining the results of this year-long adventure together! I never would have reached this point without so much inspiration and support from:
Jacquelyn (Dahneke) Penrose’s example of selfless giving, including during her final days of cancer!
Lynda Solien-Wolfe and her energy and creativity, even while she was closer to joining Jacquelyn on the other side than any of us realized

  • Mary White for her pioneering efforts with massage and the MTF at the Boston Marathon
  • Ryan Hoyme for his ‘nerd’ skills in crafting a web site and leading our social media efforts
  • The MASSAGE Magazine team (especially Karen, Tabitha and Nick) for providing the media platform to broadly reach the massage profession with important self-care content
  • The Massage Therapy Foundation team (especially Marla, Helen and Gini) for their never-ending support and encouragement
  • The Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) from across massage, those educators, leaders, and researchers from the profession who amplified The Jacquelyn Project voice to their followers
  • The many Brand Sponsors who stepped up early and often, contributing so generously and largely on faith that this entire project would come together

  • The many Amazing Individuals whose incredible generosity almost doubled this campaign’s fundraising results … with an extra-special shout out to Jeff Jensen who single-handedly made a five-figure donation, higher than even the most generous brand sponsors! Thank you Jeff!!
  • AND my beautiful bride who raised and loved Jacquelyn … supported so many training runs, invested countless time dropping me off 20+ miles away so I could run back, invested in all of the equipment and requirements associated with this project, cheering for me in every marathon (even on her birthday!!) and accompanying me to Boston to assist with any post-race meltdown (yeah, that’s a thing!?!).

My only addendum to the recently-posted MASSAGE Magazine column is that the current fundraising tally is now significantly higher at almost $92,000. There may yet be another donation or two … but I suspect we have about crossed the fundraising finish line. Thank you again – can you imagine the number of individuals struggling with cancer who will benefit and be blessed by massage therapy through the many community service grants that will be administered by the Massage Therapy Foundation? Jacquelyn must be so pleased for the good accomplished in her name! You were instrumental in making this happen. THANK YOU!!!!!

Upon fulfilling my remaining commitments, I plan to take a little time off to support Lynda’s initiative (Massage Makes Me Happy) and to contemplate phase II of The Jacquelyn Project. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!
